Petra

Visiting all the seven wonders of the modern world is something I would like to accomplish. One of the wonders  is Petra, so it had to be done. Petra is just under three hours drive from Amman airport. Our drive was uneventful apart from the odd road hump that took us by surprise (it was dark), seeing we were traveling on a major road which had a decent speed limit.

Coming in late we decided that we'll have a leisurely start to the morning before making our way to Petra. While checking in, we were told by our hotel manager that it would be better if we left early morning as it would still be cool and we'll be avoiding the afternoon heat. Also we would benefit of having the place to ourself with a few others. But if we went late, we would be jostling with the hordes of  tourist that would arrive from Amman for the day trip.

We stayed in Amra Palace International hotel. Wasn't a luxurious but very reasonable 3/4 star hotel.

Seeing Indiana Jones was filmed here it's not surprising that they are still living of it.
